FashionSkribo apresenta… “Jupiter Ascending”

Mais um mês que começa; mais um mês com mais sugestões cinematográficas. Hoje trago-vos um filme de fantasia e ficção científica, se calhar não muito diferente do que se tem visto nas últimas décadas, mas não deixa de ter um enredo interessante. E, além do mais, o filme conta com dois actores de que gosto bastante, o Eddie Redmayne e o Douglas Booth. Especialmente o Eddie Redmayne. Espero que estejam a gostar das sugestões que vos tenho vido a apresentar até agora.

Desde as ruas de Chicago até às galáxias mais distantes, “Jupiter Ascending” conta a história de Jupiter Jones, que nasceu sob um céu nocturno, com sinais que previam que estava destinada a grandes acontecimentos. Agora, já adulta, Jupiter sonhos com as estrelas, mas acorda sempre para a dura realidade do seu trabalho como empregada doméstica, e para um sem fim de azares. Somente quando Caine, um ex-militar geneticamente modificado, chega à Terra para localizá-la, é que Jupiter começa a ter vislumbres do destino que tem estado à sua espera – a sua assinatura genética marca-a como a herdeira de uma herança extraordinária, que poderá alterar o equilíbrio do cosmos.

Dsquared² @ Milan Fashion Week Spring 2015

E estamos de volta, mais uma vez, ao mundo da moda. E estão também de regresso as casas de moda, mas desta vez na Milan Fashion Week. E, além do mais, eu penso que é a primeira vez que vou falar, no blog, sobre esta marca. Assim, hoje é tempo de vos apresentar a nova colecção Primavera/Verão da Dsquared².

And we are back again, once more, to the fashion world. And the fashion houses are also back, but this time we’re heading to Milan’s Fashion Week. And, besides, I believe this is the first time that I’ll be talking, here, about this brand. Thus, today it’s time for me to present you guys the new Dsquared² Spring/Summer collection.

Dsquared² is an Italian fashion house created in 1996, in Milan, by Dean and Dan Caten. This brand has been used by several celebrities, such as Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova and Karolina Kurkova. In addiction, Dsquared² was used by Christina Aguilera, during her Stripped World Tour, and it was the oficial maker of Juventus and Barcelona’s football kits.

A Dsquared² é uma casa de moda italiana criada em 1996, em Milão, por Dean e Dan Caten. Esta marca tem sido usado por celebridades como Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova e Karolina Kurkova. Para além disto, a Dsquared² foi usada por Christina Aguilera, durante a sua Stripped World Tour, e foi o fabricante oficial dos equipamentos da Juventus e do Barcelona.

A primeira característica que sobressai acerca desta colecção é o facto de ser bastante colorida. E esta é sem dúvida uma das principais tendências para estas duas estações: o uso e abuso das cores, especialmente quando misturadas umas com as outras (conjuntos 1, 2, 3, 10, 13 e 15). Para além deste detalhe, mais uma vez, os padrões (conjuntos 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 e 18) continuam em alta, bem como o uso de folhos (conjuntos 13 e 15) e de pele (conjunto 18).

The first feature that we can highlight about this collection is the fact that it is quite colourful. And this is, without a doubt, one of the main trends for these next two seasons: the overall use of colours, especially when mixed together (outfits 1, 2, 3, 10, 13, and 15). In addiction to this detail, once more, we’re in the presence of the use of patterns (outfits 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18), flounce clothing (13 and 15) and leather (outfit 18).

Everything You Touch Turns to Gold!

Since the days when MTV turned out to be a very big disappointment that I haven’t been paying much attention to music videos, but the truth is that in the last couple of years I’ve actually started to see more music videos. Some are still quite boring, or just more of the same s**t, or too degrading, but thankfully enough we have some exceptions. And I believe Imagine Dragon’s music videos are some of those cases. Their videos are quite simple and I do truly believe that it is all that we need. There’s no need for meaningless and flamboyant music videos. As you can see, this music video is just them performing and I think it was a brilliant choice for this song. One of the best features that they have is how good they are performing live, and what a better to produce a music video than to show just that? And on top of that, Dan’s power and energy while performing gotta be one of the hottest things ever (*excuse me while I fangirl a bit*).

As for the song itself… It couldn’t be better either. I don’t believe in love at first sight but damn this really was one of those exceptions. The lyrics, the instrumental part, Dan’s voice, everything about it is perfect. Dan sounds amazing as always, but let me stop you right there, because the instrumental part is also really awesome. The drums, guitar and bass make such a beautiful melody. To be honest, it is one of my favourite parts of this song. This song and its video just literally made me fall in love with Imagine Dragons for the second time.

From the beginning to the end, this song is absolutely amazing, beautiful, and addictive. Everything about this song is pure GOLD!

Random | New technologies needed

Dear electronic engineers,

Would you be so kind to build a remote control that would enable us to mute commentators (in any kind of sporting events) but still be able to continue hearing the event itself?

I say this not only thinking about football matches but also thinking about tennis matches. Awww and I say this about the Portuguese commentators that work for Eurosport and our three national channels – can’t speak about people in other countries, though. I know we all have favourites but shouldn’t commentators be impartial in their jobs? I guess so. However, that’s something they always forget which they shouldn’t. And this is not the only problem. Probably worse than this is the fact that most of their comments are totally stupid and out of context. I haven’t watched many sporting events lately but once I started watching the Australian Open on Eurosport, It immediately reminded me why I prefer live streams. Those commentators are the most annoying and repetitive thing in the World. I just wish I could mute them but still be able to hear everything else, and actually properly enjoy the matches I’m watching. Once I found a live stream for a football match without any kind of comments and it was the best thing ever – almost as a gift that had fallen from the skies.

Topshop Unique @ London Fashion Week Spring 2015

E hoje voltamos ao mundo da moda mas com algumas diferenças em relação aos anteriores posts. Em primeiro lugar, hoje deslocamo-nos para o outro lado do Oceano Atlântico, até à London Fashion Week. E em segunda lugar, hoje trago-vos uma coleção que não pertence a uma casa de moda, mas sim a uma marca de roupa multinacional. Deste modo, hoje apresento-vos a nova colecção de Primavera/Verão da Topshop Unique.

And today we’re back to the fashion world but with some different details, compared to the last couple of posts. Firstly, today we’re going to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, to the London Fashion Week. Secondly, today I’m bringing a collection that does not belong to a fashion house, but to multinational fashion retailer. This way, today I present you guys Topshop Unique’s Spring/Summer collection.

Topshop is a British multinational fashion retailer of clothing, shoes, make-up and accessories, which is part of the Arcadia Group. This brand was created in 1964, in Sheffield (United Kingdom), under the designation of Peter Robinson’s Top Shop. As of now, this brand has about 500 stores spread all over the World.

Topshop é uma marca britânica multinacional de roupa, calçado, maquilhagem e acessórios, que pertence ao Arcadia Group. Esta marca foi criada em 1964, em Sheffield (Reino Unido), sob a designação de Peter Robinson’s Top Shop. De momento, esta marca tem cerca de 500 lojas espalhadas pelo Mundo.

Mais uma vez, conseguimos ver uma grande variedade de cores para as próximas duas estações, quer sejam cores escuras ou vívidas (como o preto, azul, vermelho e um tom castanho-amarelado), quer sejam cores claras (como o amarelo, o azul e o branco). No que diz respeito aos padrões, o floral continua a ser uma presença constante, bem como o uso de riscas (conjuntos 3, 4, 7 e 8). O casaco castanho-amarelado (no conjunto 9) é a minha peça de roupa favorita desta colecção.

Once again, we can see a great variety of colours for the new two seasons, be it either dark and vivid colours (such as black, blue, red and a brown-yellowish ton), or light colours (such as yellow, blue and white). As for the patterns, the floral one continues to be a constant presence, as well as the use of stripes (outfits 3, 4, 7 and 8). The brown-yellowish coat (in outfit 9) is my favourite piece of clothing from this collection.

Eu não tenho uma música completamente fora do ordinário para partilhar com vocês, porque basicamente as músicas que eu, actualmente, oiço são de bandas bastante conhecidas, por isso, penso que elas não seriam bem uma novidade para vocês. Deste modo, eu optei por escolher esta música porque, neste momento, é a minha favorita.

I don’t have a song completely over the ordinary to share with you guys, because basically all the music that I currently listen to it’s from very well-known bands, so they shouldn’t be exactly news to everyone. Therefore, I opted for this specific song because it is currently my favourite one.

FashionSkribo apresenta… “Mortdecai”

Uma semana depois voltamos outra vez ao mundo do cinema. E porque uma sugestão cinematográfica com o Ewan McGregor não vem só, eis a minha segunda sugestão com ele. Garanto-vos que não fiz de propósito, visto que esta foi apenas uma bela de uma coincidência. Mas a verdade é que eu bem que podia ter feito de propósito, embora este não tenha sido o caso. E hoje é dia de fazermos mais uma visita ao mundo da moda. A colecção de hoje é possivelmente uma das minhas favoritas este ano. E, além do mais, esta é uma casa de moda que nunca desaponta. Sem mais demoras, e continuando na semana de moda de Nova Iorque, hoje apresento-vos a nova colecção Primavera/Verão da Oscar de la Renta.

And today is the time to make another visit to the world of fashion. Today’s collection is possibly one of my favourites this year. And besides, this fashion house never disappoints. But without further ado, and continuing in the New York fashion week, today I will show you guys Oscar de la Renta’s new Spring/Summer collection.

In 1965, Oscar de la Renta created his own fashion house. This fashion house is mainly known for its beautiful gowns (mostly used in the red carpets of film awards), but the truth is that it has also a bridal collection and a ready-to-wear collection.

Em 1965, Oscar de la Renta criou a sua casa de moda. Esta casa de moda é maioritariamente conhecida pelos seus vestidos de gala (bastante usados nas passadeiras vermelhas de entregas de prémios), mas a verdade é que também tem uma colecção de vestidos de casamento e uma colecção de pronto-a-vestir.

No que diz respeito às tendências que se encontram nesta colecção, a primeira coisa que salta à vista é o uso de cores fortes, como o amarelo, o verde e um tom rosa-avermelhado; algo que se destaca bastante nesta colecção. Depois, tem-se também o seu presente conjunto de cores claras, como o branco, o dourado, o azul e o cor-de-rosa; e ainda o uso do contraste entre preto e branco – os tão famosos conjuntos black and white (provavelmente os meus favoritas nesta colecção). E no que diz respeito aos detalhes e texturas, encontramos as seguintes tendências: rendilhado (conjuntos 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 15, 18 e 21), transparência (5, 7, 15, 16 e 21) e padrão floral (2, 9 e 19).

As for the trends shown in this collection, the first thing that pops out is the use of bright colours, such as yellow, a pink-redish tone, and green; something that stands out from this collection. Then we have the so present group of light colours, such as white, gold, blue, and pink; and the use of the contrast between white and black – the so-called black and white outfits (probably my favourites in this collection). As for details and textures, we have here the following trends: lace (outfits 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13, 15, 18, and 21), transparency (5, 7, 15, 16, and 21), and floral pattern (2, 9, and 19).

A show that you wish more people were watching… Marvel’s Agent Carter

Eu penso que esta série não é assim tão desconhecida – pelo menos não nos EUA – mas tendo em conta que apenas começou a ser transmitida há duas semanas, eu penso que ela se enquadra na perfeição nesta categoria. E além do mais, esta é uma série fantástica, por isso aconselho-vos mesmo a vê-la. Eu não quero entrar numa batalha pelos sexos aqui, mas a verdade é que é óptimo, para varia, ver uma série focada numa personagem feminina. E a Peggy é sem dúvida uma das minhas personagens femininas favoritas do Universo Cinematográfico da Marvel.

Esta série conta a história de Peggy Carter que, em 1946, deverá equilibrar a rotina do seu trabalho administrativo para a Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R), enquanto secretamente ajuda Howard Stark, que se encontra incriminado por fornecer armas mortais a licitantes. Carter é assistida pelo mordomo de Stark, Edwin Jarvis, para encontrar os responsáveis e desfazer-se das armas.

Produzido por Christopher e Stephen McFeely, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” conta com a participação de Hayley Atwell (como Peggy Carter), James D’Arcy (como Edwin Jarvis), Chad Michael Murray (como Jack Thompson), Enver Gjokaj (como Daniel Sousa), Shea Whigham (como Roger Dooley) e Dominic Cooper (como Howard Stark).

I think this show isn’t that unknown – well at least not in the USA – but since it just started airing a couple of weeks ago, I thought it would fit perfectly in this category. And besides, it is such an amazing show, so you guys should really be watching it. I’m not trying to get into a social justice battle here, but it’s nice to see a show focused on a female character for a change. And Peggy is definitely one of my favourite female characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This show tells the story of Peggy Carter, who, in 1946, must balance the routine office work she does for the Strategic Scientific Reserve (S.S.R) while secretly assisting Howard Stark, who finds himself framed for supplying deadly weapons to the top bidder. Carter is assisted by Stark’s butler, Edwin Jarvis, to find those responsible and dispose of the weapons.
