71st Annual Golden Globe Awards winners + red carpet looks

And the craziness of the awards’ season is officially open. Today starts the first day of many to come, where we’ll find who were the best of the best in 2013. Dating back to the end of January 1944, yesterday we saw yet another Golden Globe Awards ceremony. Despite some episodes of criticism, this is one of the most important accolade for the film industry, this is it without mentioning the Academy Awards (whose awards are given by the film industry), since in this case these awards are given by the critics themselves. Moreover, both its nominees and winners are a sort of preview of the respective Academy Awards ceremony.

Once again, for those who are new to this blog, I have this habit of publishing the winners (as well as some of my favourite looks from the red carpets) of some of the most important award ceremonies in the film industry. I’m sorry for not writing in Portuguese but today I felt like writing in English. And here they are, this year’s winners of the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards!

I must say that I wasn’t expecting this “result” at all. I am not saying this for the film categories, but for the ones for both actors and actresses. First of all, I’m still amazed by the fact that Amy Adams won. I didn’t see that coming. I always thought that Meryl Streep would be the one winning that category. Well, it appears that someone broke the “chain”. Second of all, I’m even more amazed by the fact that Jared Leto won. I don’t know him as an actor but I wasn’t really expecting this outcome. Finally, I’m very happy that both Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio won in their categories. I just wish he’ll be nominated for the Oscars (even though I don’t think he might win, which he clearly deserves). What do you guys have to say about this year’s winners?

There’s nothing quite like the Oscar’s red carpet, so this is like the second best thing. However, there’s always very impressive choices at the Golden Globes. This was one of my least favorite red carpets in the past few years. Don’t get me wrong, there were really good dresses but overall it was a tiny bit disappointing. Even thought I liked Jennifer Lawrence’s dress, I was quite expecting something else; something a lit bit more elaborate. Rocsi Diaz’s dress is nothing that we haven’t seen before but I do really like this type of dresses. Zooey Deschanel is as quirky as always and she looks lovely in this dress. I’m not particularly fond of Kaley Cuoco’s dress pattern but I do like the dress by itself. Lupita Nyong’o looks beautiful but I’m not buying the whole cape thing. I’ve seen Amy Adams in better dresses but this one isn’t that bad. It’s super simple and sometimes that’s all they need. And I can say the same for Emma Watson. I’ve seen better but this unusual dress really caught my attention. And Mila Kunis too. After she wore that green dress for the 2011‘s ceremony, I’ve been expecting a lot better choices from her. Olivia Wilde’s choice was just perfect for her. What do you guys think of this year’s red carpet looks?
